"Investing in women’s economic empowerment sets a direct path towards gender equality, poverty eradication and inclusive economic growth. Women make enormous contributions to economies, whether in businesses, on farms, as entrepreneurs or employees, or by doing unpaid care work at home." - See more at: http://www.unwomen.org |
The Economic and Social Council is the United Nations’ central platform for reflection, debate, and innovative thinking on sustainable development. ECOSOC was established in 1946 through the UN Charter and has the ability to correlate between different bodies, audit UN policy, make economic, social and environmental suggestions as well as facilitate the application of the international development goals. A number of non- governmental organizations are granted consultative status to the Council in order to participate in the work of the United Nations |
